2/15/2010 12:00:00 AM
Kansas City Music Teacher’s Association in conjunction with Kansas Art Commission, sponsored their annual Multi-Piano Concert at the Lied Center on the KU campus in Lawrence, Kansas. KCMTA is a 501(c)3 organization designed to promote arts education, particularly music instruction throughout the community.
This year’s Multi-Piano concert, “Songfoolery” featured music depicting fantasy and storytelling. Over 400 performers, representing over 40 private music studios across Kansas City/ Overland Park area provided a delightful afternoon of music, entertainment, fantasy, and fascination for the audiences. The annual Multi-Piano Concert is a unique experience, as students of all ages, as well as teachers provide an afternoon of entertainment through duets performed on 18 grand pianos at one time. This provides an opportunity for young pianists to have an opportunity to work with a professional conductor, and perform in an ensemble setting. The event is the highlight of the academic year for many of the students and teachers.
This year’s performance was no exception. Though the “weather outside was frightful”, this year’s comedic script, and enchanting music was definitely “delightful”.Participants provided two afternoon concerts that delighted all in attendance.
