Something Good Hidden In All That Snow!

From the start, I have doubted the weatherman talking about an “infamous weather storm” on its way to Kansas City. In fact, when I heard the word “blizzard” mentioned, I had to chuckle. We seem jumpy around here when it comes to snow, so I expected maybe 2 inches at most to make a showing for this so called blizzard they were anticipating.

Turns out I was obviously wrong. The snow fell continually for almost 3 days, leaving behind a beautiful mess. But, there was some great fun that came from it.

  1. We took our daughter sledding for the first time! She’s one and a half and (we thought) needed the experience of the thrill of sledding down a hill. Plus, we thought it could build some character (with the snow and the cold, you kind of have to be tough to handle the elements).
  2. My husband met our new neighbor! Bet you didn’t expect to see this one here, but he did. We have a new neighbor (down the street about 4 houses) who just moved in, and we haven’t had the chance to introduce ourselves and meet her. She ended up getting her car stuck in the street, so my husband went out to save the day.

This neighbor is young, lives by herself, and was just coming home for the first time since leaving for Christmas festivities on Thursday. She also did not own a snow shovel. Not only did my husband help push her car out of the snow 3 different times, but he also ended up shoveling half of her driveway so that she could get in her garage. This brings me to my third good thing that came out of all this snow…..

  1. I was reminded just how much I love my husband, who runs out of the house to help someone in need, then gives up almost an hour of time to shovel their driveway while his own still sits covered in snow.
