Thankful at Odd Moments

Green snot is my nemesis.  Specifically, the discolored nasal discharge of others brings me to my knees.

It used to be that I could avoid anything related to the nose of others.  Of course, that was before I had children.  Now, from October through March, at least one of my children has a runny nose at any given time.  As much as I’d like to ignore those little noses until Daddy gets home, I obviously shouldn’t.

Just the other day, I noticed my son needed a tissue.  I grabbed one and asked him to blow.  He blew as hard as he could and I nearly jumped.  The most awful noise accompanied his blow.  I didn’t realize a 3-year-old could blow with such force.  It turns out he can’t.

As I held the tissue, my son decided to blow a raspberry in addition to blowing his nose.  The result was quite impressive.  Once I realized what he was doing, I had to laugh.  Leave it to a child to make something as disgusting as snot funny.  It was a bit reminiscent of changing a baby’s blowout as the baby smiles and coos oblivious to the fact that the only thing between you and human excrement is a measly wipe.

Today I find myself thankful that my children can make me laugh at the strangest times.  It’s hard to gag when you’re laughing.

    Lizz,

HILARIOUS!  A blowing raspberry combination... something ONLY a mother could appeciate.
