Out of Season

One January, not too long ago, my husband went to a big-box store with the hope of buying a sled.  After an unsuccessful search, he finally asked an employee at customer service where he could find one.  He was told that they were out of sleds and wouldn't be getting any more because they were "out of season."

We had a good laugh about that after he came home.  After all, we had a good two if not three months left with the possiblity of wintry weather.  Yet, it seems that both then and now, the trend is for stores to be a month or two ahead of any particular season.  For the most part, it annoys me that it's possible to do things like buy Valentines before the stockings are hung.  I like seasonal activities and products to actually match up with the seasons and their respective holidays.  However, I do make an exception for radio stations.

In fact, if you'd been driving beside me on Friday afternoon, you would have actually seen me slap my steering wheel while shouting for glee as I realized that Christmas songs were already being played on 98.1 KUDL.

The Christmas tree won't go up until after Thanksgiving, but I'll gladly listen to Christmas music while the turkey is roasting.  That is if the constant caroling doesn't drive my family crazy before then.

Is there a holiday tradition that you like to enjoy even when it is "out of season?"

I bet this will surprise you (not)....but I cannot handle Christmas music for more than like 3 days.  When I think about myself, I get quirkier by the day...I am really picky.  I should change that.

Let me think about out of season...I would be fine celebrating my birthday every day of the year :P.

I do like Christmas lights going up early!!  I love the feel of winter, and lights are the best!!  (So I am not a scrooge; music just gets on my nerves quickly).
