Back to School

It’s here-August has come and with it comes back-to-school and it always puts me in a little bit of a funk. I know education is important, but I just love summer! I miss my girls while they are in school and I don’t enjoy the fact that the school schedule dictates our lives. We can’t pick up and go to St. Louis for a mid-week visit and our mornings are just a bit rushed. I prefer a slower, more laid-back morning where we get up, enjoy breakfast and talk with each other instead of scrambling to get everyone out the door by 7:30.

And, to make matters worse, my younger starts full-day Kindergarten, so I will be all alone during the day. As I wrote in my August editor’s letter, for the first time in my life, I will be eating lunch alone. I know that I will adjust and this soon will become my new normal but for now it just makes me sad.

I guess it could be worse-the year my mom sent me off to college she sent her baby off to Kindergarten-I can’t even imagine!

So for the next few days I’ll enjoy my girls and the time spent with them, get them ready for school, mope for a few days and then without realizing it, get caught back up in the school rush and routine that includes studying spelling words, practicing math facts, making school lunches, etc, etc, etc.

Hoping your back-to-school time goes smoothly!

We didn't have care for my son this week, I'm a working Mom so I took the week off to spend with him.  What a great week it's been, we haven't done much but just spend time together, I know as he gets older this time will be less and less so I certainly enjoy every moment I have.

What a sad day!! My two boys are almost 2 and almost 6 months and I'm already dreading the day they both go to school!! I know it's a whirlwind from there and before I know it they will be graduating collage and having babies of their own!! Try to make the best of your free time! :) I'm sure it will be weird with a quiet house but I'm sure your days will fly by and before you know it your house will be full of noise again after everyone gets home :)

My daughter started half-day Kindergarten and she was really excited to go back to school.  Now I have a little time for one on one with my 3 year old son.  I am enjoying this time with him.  Hope you continue to enjoy your time with your daughters because time goes by fast.  Make the best out of it!!!
