I Can't Believe I Wasn't the Last to Know!

A few months ago, Amy Hilbrich Davis of Inspiring Moms, mentioned Groupon to me while I interviewed her for an article.  I'm glad she did.

Earlier this summer, I signed up for Groupon.  I started receiving emails of their daily deals.  One day the deal was for a restaurant on the Plaza.  I paid $15 for a $30 gift certificate.  The certificate didn't expire for six months so I figured we'd squeeze at least one date night in before then.

Yesterday was our anniversary.  As we discussed what we might do, I remembered the deal I'd purchased.  I printed it off and we headed out to dinner.  We had a nice dinner all while sitting outside on a beautiful night.  It was so nice to feel like we'd planned ahead a bit for our special night even though we hadn't purposefully done so.

I currently also have two different $20 gift certificates to U.S.Toy that I purchased for $10 each.  I'm planning on using them for Christmas gifts for my kiddos.

I'd thought about mentioning this  web site a while back, but then I figured most people knew about it since I'm rarely the first to jump on anything.  Then, not long ago, Money Saving Mom posted about Groupon and how she'd recently joined.  If you don't read Money Saving Mom, you're missing out on some fabulous money saving ideas!

Anyways, I decided if she had just joined, there might be other people who don't know about Groupon.  Well, now you know.  Go to Groupon.com to sign up and you'll likely soon be taking advantage of deals to help you save money.

But, before you head over to the site, please tell me ways you save money.  Perhaps you have a trick that you assume everyone knows about, please share!  The things that are old news to you might just be new to someone else.

After you do that, feel free to get your "group on!"  (Sorry, I just couldn't resist!)

I love groupon too! I tried to get in on the gap deal the other day, but couldn't and then I forgot. :(

I also love coupons and try to check the grocery store ads to see what's on sale.

I love Groupon too.  It's probably obvious, but you shouldn't buy a Groupon for anything that you wouldn't purchase anyway.  I've bought a couple Groupons that I've regretted later, after I realized that I spent money that I never would have spent otherwise, without the Groupon to give me an excuse to do so.

I love groupon!  You can also check out www.pennypinchingmama.com
for fabulous deals and coupons match-up.  It used to be for KC but the website is so popular, it has been expanded to readers all over!

I love groupon! I have purchased restraunt discounts as well as a large wrapped canvas print, for pennies on the dollar! I am excited to see the new deal everyday. This is seriously one of the best sites ever!!

I can't convince my husband to spend the money in advance...

Groupon is awesome!  That's one of the first things I check when I finally make it online in the morning (or afternoon...)
  • Amanda 27 Aug, 08:41 AM

I love groupon, but you definitely have to be careful that you don't get caught up in the thrill of a good deal and buy something you don't really need.
  • Tracy Cahill 27 Aug, 08:53 AM

I love Groupon. I have found great deals for businesses I do frequent already plus learned of some that I just had to try and was more willing to because of the deals.

Well, I'm in the process of learning how to better save money and become debt free, so I don't have the greatest advise right now, lol. However, I am looking for it, so I love reading blogs about other families who have struggled and how they've overcome, as well as these great suggestions in ways to save money! I've never heard of Groupons or Money Saving Mom...I will most definitely check them out..every little bit helps!

I just learned about groupon last week!  I haven't used it yet, honestly I am a bit skeptical of a lot of deals like this online, so it's good to hear that it's legit!
  • Melissa Merriam 27 Aug, 09:47 AM

Never heard of it but will have to join now!
  • amber H 27 Aug, 09:50 AM

I love groupon!  I also go to livingsocial.com which is basically the same thing.

I am also part of several mommy blogs about saving money!
  • Korinne 27 Aug, 09:59 AM

I recently signed up for Groupon too!  I was leary at first as I am with most things but the first offer was for a nice restaurant in our neighborhood.  It's been two weeks and I purchased that and a round of golf for my husband which included a bag of balls and cart for $37 at one of his favorite courses!  I printed the certificate and it doesn't show the price so I'm excited at the opportunity to buy these as gifts for other family members as they come up.

Another way I like to save money is by going to restaurants.com when we are trying to decide where to eat.  We can have a date or family dinner over 60% off.

Heading over to sign up for that deal right now!  I use money saving mom and love it but I guess as of right now at least...I'm the last to know on the groupon saving. :)

I love groupon! The deals are great and make wonderful gifts as well. I second livingsocial too.
