Kansas City Zoo: The Kansas City Zoo makes an excellent outdoor Spring Break option! Visit the new baby llama, check out the Tropics Exhibit, or walk through Africa (before the heat of summer!).

- Pathfinder Camp: For ages 7-12 this so much more than a craft making camp; this is an awesome three day adventure in science with bubbling, oozing experiments guaranteed to amaze and delight young budding minds. Camp is from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. March 17 thru March 19, 2010. Cost is $95/per child for FOTZ Members and $105 for Non-FOTZ Members.

- Spring Break Nature Quest: March 15-19, 10am-Noon. Hey kids! Would you like something to do over spring break? Explore science and nature at the lake with a fun-filled week of specially designed activities for children 7-11 years of age. Class size is limited; pre-registration required one week in advance. All activities are $2 per day per child. Tentative schedule: Monday, March 15-StarLab, Tuesday, March 16-Reptiles and Amphibians, Wednesday, March 17-Habitats, Thursday, March 18-Art and Nature and Friday, March 19-Life Under Water.

- Spring Break Classes: 3/15 - 3/19 9:00am - 12:00pm Space is Limited to 10 Children! It's educational and fun, children ages 3 - 10 years will participate in Spanish games, activities, art and more. Spring enrolled students pay $145 Mon - Fri or $32 per day. New students pay $199 Mon - Fri or $42/day plus $15 registration fee. Fee is waived when enrolled Mon - Fri. Save $50 When you refer a friend that enrolls in a 10-week session, your child will receive $50 OFF Tuition. $50 can only be used towards a 10-week session.
Johnson County Museum: Learn the history of Johnson County at the Johnson County Museums and take the children to explore KidScape.

- KidScape: A hands-on suburban streetscape filled with kid-friendly activities to help your youngster learn about community. Explore KidScape and engage in a variety of fun activities and meet some of Johnson County’s most talented citizens – past and present. KidScape is designed for children ages 3 to 9 years. KidScape is free exhibit.
- Musical Tales with Strings, Shakers, Chimes and Drums. March 17, 10:00am. Preschool children are invited to this FREE event. The morning starts with story time, featuring renowned story teller, Jo Ho. Chime in spring with lots of joyous sounds! This musical storytelling program introduces little ears to unique instruments used in creating clever rhythms and sounds for characters and storylines in multi-cultural tales.

- FREE Program - Trout Stocking: Friday, March 12. A Spring Trout Stocking on March 12 is a great way to start Spring Break with the kids. This time, 2,000 lbs. of fish go in Shawnee Mission Park Lake at 3:45 pm and 1,000 lbs. in Heritage Park Lake at 2:30 pm. The lakes will be closed after this stocking and will re-open Saturday, March 13 at the 5 am parks’ opening. - Volleyball Camp: March 15 – 18 - Spring Break Volleyball Camp (Grades 3-8). This volleyball camp will be held over Spring Break, March 15 - 18, from 9 am - Noon at Mid America West Sports Complex - Okun Fieldhouse (20000 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS). The camp is designed to provide the basic skills in the game of volleyball. Serving, passing, and setting will be covered in order for campers to improve their skills in a positive learning environment. Each participant will receive a camp T-shirt. - Spring Outdoor Adventures Camp: March 15 – 19 - Spring Outdoor Adventures Camp (Ages 11-13) If exploring wild areas, finding long forgotten trails, and learning secrets of survival appeal to you, join us for five days of adventure! Participants will need to bring a backpack with sack lunch, water bottle, and comfortable all-weather clothing. Outdoor Adventures Spring Break Camp will meet every morning at the Ernie Miller Nature Center (909 N. Hwy 7, Olathe, KS). Programmed activities will begin at 9 am and conclude at 4 pm. For convenience of working parents supervision will be provided from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. Throughout the week we will go canoeing, fishing, and do team building and zip lining at the challenge course. The last day of camp we will have a cook out. Activities may vary due to the weather conditions. Parents will receive a detailed letter describing camp activities and a medical form which must be completed and brought to camp on Monday morning. Enrollment is limited to 13 campers. - Spring Fling: March 15 – 19, 10am or 2pm. Come enjoy spring with a trip to Ernie Miller Nature Park (909 N. Hwy 7, Olathe, KS). Visitors are welcome to view the aquarium and hike the trails all week. Park naturalists will entertain guests with a special program each day. Every program will feature live animals. MON. - Hear Native American myths and see live animals. TUE. - Live animals illustrate the webs of wildlife in the prairie, forest, and water. WED. - Wear your green and celebrate Celtic stories, music, and traditions. THU. - The amazing feats of feathered creatures, the Birds of Prey will highlight this program. - Mad Science: Junior Engineers: March 15, 9am-3:30pm - (Ages 6-12) Young engineers will have lots to talk about after a full day of building and testing structures out of lots of different materials! They check out pyramids, arches, inflatable beams, test the strength of eggs, and build bridges and sky scrapers. In between, children will have fun playing games and puzzles with shapes and structures. Children can be dropped off between 8:30-9 am (no one will be allowed in any earlier) and must be picked up between 3:30-4 pm. Bring a sack lunch and a drink. - Mad Science: Creepy Crawly Ecology Meets Animal Wonders: March 17, 9am-3:30pm (Ages 6-12) Welcome to the wonderful world outdoors! Use microscopes to investigate tiny parts of plants, animals and insects. Create cool tie-dye designs using nature’s beautiful colors, and play the role and develop the skills of a naturalist tracking animals in the wild. Thanks to Animal Wonders and their live birds, we will discover the science of ornithology by investigating different species of birds and how they fit into their own niches in the environment. - Spring Break Bash: Friday, March 19, 10am - 1pm. (All Ages) Splish splash…we’re having a spring break bash! Swim on over to the indoor Roeland Park Aquatic Center for a swimmingly good time. There will be organized games in the pool area and a craft outside the pool area. Adults and children alike can dive on into the pool for some swimming free time. Lunch will be served.
