Grand Carnivale at Worlds of Fun July 13 - August 4 at Worlds of Fun, 4545 Worlds of Fun Avenue, Kansas City, MO Experience Worlds of Fun like you never have before when myth and magic join together to create the all-new Grand Carnivale. Guests are welcomed every day July 13 through August 4 beginning at 5:00 p.m. to celebrate the sights, sounds, smells and tastes from cultures around the world including India, China, Italy, France and Germany. Indeed, the Grand Carnivale has something for everyone - from crafts and games, to delectable food and drink, to live music and astounding entertainment. Take part in the Spectacle of Color interactive light parade, complete with dazzling floats, authentic music and mesmerizing street performers. And finally, top off the night at the Carnivale Street Party, a magnificent party filled with international music and merrymaking until the park closes.
Festival of Butterflies July 27-August 11 at Powell Gardens, 1609 N.W. U.S. Highway 50, Kingsville, MO. Festival Admission Applies. Enjoy this family favorite and immerse yourself in the world of butterflies native and exotic! Special programming, family-friendly activities, free expert advice each weekend (Friday-Sunday) of the festival.
Johnson County Fair July 28- August 3 at Johnson County Fairgrounds, 136 E Washington St, Gardner, KS. The Johnson County Fair is a free fair except the carnival and nightly arena events.
Douglas County Fair July 29 - August 3 at Douglas County Fairgrounds, Lawrence, KS. Petting zoo, pony rides, demolition derby, tractor show, live concerts, turtle races, carnival, tractor pull and more.
Leavenworth County Fair July 30 - August 3 at Leavenworth County Fairgrounds, 405 W. 4th Street, Tonganoxie, KS. Delight in the fun of games, contests, pony rides, derbies, food, rides, exhibits, music, and more. Our local fair is always lively, day or night, and always filled with great folks from all over the Leavenworth County area!
Farmstead Safety Day August 3 at Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead, 13800 Switzer Rd., Overland Park, KS. Watch the Children’s Mercy helicopter land in the main lawn and take off at the end of the event. Interact with members of emergency services, hospitals and safety organizations. Learn about back to school safety, stranger danger and much more. Police and firefighters will share information on what to do in case of an emergency and children will have the opportunity to interact with first responders* and see the equipment first hand.
Missouri State Fair August 8-18 at Missouri State Fairgrounds, Sedalia, MO. The 407-acre fairgrounds will present premier livestock shows and competitive exhibits, and first-class professional entertainment. Mark your calendar for summer’s best family vacation experience!

Tails on the Trails Pet Festival August 10 at Ad Astra Pool and Park, 8265 Maurer Rd., Lenexa, KS. Free admission to event. $5 (pre-registered)/$8 per dog swim. For a day of fun with your dog, come to Lenexa’s Tails on the Trails Pet Festival. You can browse pet vendors’ booths, participate in the pet talent show, let your pooch plunge into the dog swims and watch demonstrations.

Ethnic Enrichment Festival August 16-18 at Swope Park, Meyer Blvd. and Swope Parkway, Kansas City, MO. Adults: $5; 12 & Under: Free. Feel the world beat in the heart of America. BBQ & Fly-In on the River August 16-17 at Excelsior Springs Memorial Airport, 201 E. Broadway, Excelsior Springs, MO. Over 60 competitive smoke-cooking teams from around the Midwest gather in Excelsior Springs for one of Clay’s most delicious competitions. The Festival includes a Friday evening kickoff with live music, a beer garden and food trucks. KC Irish Fest August 30-Sept. 1 at Crown Center Square, 2500 Grand, Kansas City, MO. Commemorate Kansas City’s proud Celtic heritage with three days of music, dancing and exhibits. The festival will feature more than two dozen locally and nationally known bands, playing traditional music and Celtic rock.

The 47th Annual SantaCaliGon Days Festival in Independence, Missouri, commemorates the origin of the Santa Fe, California, and Oregon trails during the country’s great westward expansion in the 1800's by adventurous pioneers. Today, it celebrates family and fun! More than 300,000 festival-goers spend Labor Day weekend at the region’s oldest and largest 4-day festival.
