July Festivals

Flags 4 Freedom June 29 - July 6 at Merriam Marketplace, 5740 Merriam Dr., Merriam, KS. View an astonishing patriotic display of more than 1,500 United States flags in downtown Merriam during this week-long event. Enjoy a FREE concert by the Greater Kansas City American Legion Band at 1:00 pm on July 4th.

Ward Parkway Four on the 4th July 4 at Ward Parkway Center, 8600 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, MO.  Starting at 7:30AM on July 4th, we’ll run/walk 4 miles along Ward Parkway to celebrate Independence Day. Participants receive a shirt, festive giveaways, patriotic snacks, and finisher medals as bold and charming as the American dream!

Independence Day at Missouri Town 1855 July 4 at Missouri Town 1855, 8010 E. Park Rd, Lee's Summit, MO. Experience the festivities as the Missouri Town staff and volunteers celebrate America’s Independence. Patriotic speeches, children’s games, period cooking, dancing, and militia marches are a few of the many interpretive activities. Everyone is invited to join with the staff and volunteers as they march down the main road in the traditional Missouri Town Independence Parade!

Village Fest July 4 at 77th and Mission Road, Prairie Village, KS. The festivities will begin at 7:30 a.m. with a Pancake Breakfast ($5/plate) supplied by Chris Cakes. Also enjoy craft show, pie baking contest, rides, inflatables, live entertainment and family fun.

Community Days Parade: Lenexa July 4 at Old Town Lenexa, Santa Fe Trail Drive & Pflumm Road, Lenexa, KS. The Community Days Parade is an annual hometown tradition that draws thousands to Old Town to celebrate Independence Day. Our parade is one of the longest Fourth of July parades in the Kansas City area.

4th of July Fireworks Enjoy fireworks and festivities across the metro... all on our calendar!

Wyandotte County Fair July 9-13 at Wyandotte County Fairgrounds, 13700 Polfer Rd, Kansas City, KS. Admission is $5 per car. Enjoy Hendricks Petting Zoo and Camel Rides, Hendricks Pig Races, 4-H exhibits, Contests for everyone, Carnival rides, and so much more.

Hot Summer Days July 12 at Overland Park Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, 8909 W 179th St, Overland Park, KS. This event features water games for the whole family, prepare to get wet and maybe a little messy. Splashing around will help keep the temperatures down, and participants will enjoy this cool down activity.

Grand Carnivale at Worlds of Fun July 13 - August 4 at Worlds of Fun, 4545 Worlds of Fun Avenue, Kansas City, MO Experience Worlds of Fun like you never have before when myth and magic join together to create the all-new Grand Carnivale. Guests are welcomed every day July 13 through August 4 beginning at 5:00 p.m. to celebrate the sights, sounds, smells and tastes from cultures around the world including India, China, Italy, France and Germany. Indeed, the Grand Carnivale has something for everyone - from crafts and games, to delectable food and drink, to live music and astounding entertainment. Take part in the Spectacle of Color interactive light parade, complete with dazzling floats, authentic music and mesmerizing street performers. And finally, top off the night at the Carnivale Street Party, a magnificent party filled with international music and merrymaking until the park closes.

KC Taco Fest July 13 from 3-10pm at KC Crossroads KC  (417 E 18th St, Kansas City, MO). Kansas City’s very own Taco festival is a unique event that features $2 Tacos, Cerveza, Margaritas, Tequila and live music.The Experience: Delicious $2 Street tacos from local Taco establishments. Chips & Salsa, Elote, Desserts. Margaritas, Cerveza & Tequila. Yard Games for the family. Live Music by MGD’s and more. Best Taco Competition - Competition amongst participating food vendors to determine the vendor with Kansas City’s best Taco. (Judges Choice: 1st place & 2nd place). Best Salsa Competition - Competition amongst participating food vendors to determine the vendor with Kansas City’s best Salsa. (Judges Choice: 1st place & 2nd place). Jalapeno Eating Competition - An exciting competition amongst select attendees to determine who can consume the most Jalapenos in a given amount of time. ​

KC Fringe Festival July 14-28 at Union Station, 30 W. Pershing, Kansas City, MO. This 14-day explosion of unjuried, uncensored performing and visual arts features performers and creators from all over- local, national and international. Fringe Festival KC is the biggest celebration of arts and culture in the Kansas City metropolitan region.

Cass County Fair July 16-21 at Cass County Fairgrounds, 203 Paul St, Pleasant Hill, MO. The Cass County Fair has grown to be one of the greatest county fairs in the State of Missouri. From the youth livestock shows to the action-packed demolition derby, the fair has it all. SonShine Amusements will be providing quality rides and attractions.

Fiesta Mexicana July 16-20 at Downtown Topeka, 201 N.E. Chandler St., Topeka, KS. Celebrate Topeka’s Mexican culture during the 86th Annual Fiesta Mexicana. Five nights of Fiesta fun will feature traditional Mexican food, music, dancing, a Midway carnival, and a jalapeno eating contest!

Amelia Earhart Festival July 17-20 at Atchison, KS. Each summer the community pulls out all the stops in honor of its favorite daughter, complete with a downtown music, food and crafts fair, star-filled outdoor concert, children’s activities, carnival, awards and honors, Earhart research and literature, music on the beautiful Riverfront, aerobatic performances and the grandest of all finales  -  the “Concert in the Sky” fireworks show.

Kansas City’s Big Picnic & Donald J. Hall Sculpture Park Celebration July 21 at The Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, 4525 Oak Street, Kansas City, MO. Join the Nelson-Atkins and Kansas City Parks & Recreation for the biggest picnic in Kansas City, with live music, food trucks, giant puppets, art activities, lawn games and more – fun for the entire family! 

The Great Car Show July 21 at National World War I Museum and Memorial, 2 Memorial Dr, Kansas City, MO. The Great Car Show is a benefit for the Kansas City Automotive Museum and the National WWI Museum and Memorial.

Miami County Fair July 21-28 at Miami County Fairgrounds, 401 E. Wallace Park Drive, Paola, KS. Youth rodeo, carnival, races, parade, demolition derby, bike derby, dog show, horse show, pancake breakfast, concerts and more.

Platte County Fair July 24-27 at Platte County Fairgrounds, 414 MO-92, Platte City, MO. Old-Fashioned County Fair - Games, Rides, Carnival, Food, Music and More! The fair has been an annual event in the community since the first fair in 1863. It is recorded as being the oldest continuously operating fair west of the Mississippi River.

Rock & Food Trucks July 27 at Downtown Topeka, 9th & Kansas, Topeka, KS. Join Downtown Topeka for the second night of the CoreFirst Bank and Trust Concert Series to hear Swift Kick, Way Too Famous, Mixtapes, and House of Lords rock the stage with the State Capitol in the background. 20+ food trucks begin serving food at 3:30 and music starts around 4.

Fun in the Sun Kids Fest July 27 at Linden Square, 602 NE 70th St, Gladstone, MO. This year’s event will feature the annual Cutie Pie Tri for children age 3 to 5, music from BJ the DJ, balloon art, an inflatable water slide and more!

Festival of Butterflies July 27-August 11 at Powell Gardens, 1609 N.W. U.S. Highway 50, Kingsville, MO. Festival Admission Applies. Enjoy this family favorite and immerse yourself in the world of butterflies native and exotic! Special programming, family-friendly activities, free expert advice each weekend (Friday-Sunday) of the festival.

Johnson County Fair July 28- August 3 at Johnson County Fairgrounds, 136 E Washington St, Gardner, KS. The Johnson County Fair is a free fair except the carnival and nightly arena events. 

Douglas County Fair July 29 - August 3 at Douglas County Fairgrounds, Lawrence, KS. Petting zoo, pony rides, demolition derby, tractor show, live concerts, turtle races, carnival, tractor pull and more.

Leavenworth County Fair July 30 - August 3 at Leavenworth County Fairgrounds, 405 W. 4th Street, Tonganoxie, KS. Delight in the fun of games, contests, pony rides, derbies, food, rides, exhibits, music, and more. Our local fair is always lively, day or night, and always filled with great folks from all over the Leavenworth County area!
