Turkeys in Nature
Burr Oak Woods Nature Center (1401 NW Park Rd., Blue Springs, MO, 816.228.3766, MDC.mo.gov). Admission: FREE. Burr Oak Woods Nature Center is home to wild turkeys, and the bird watching center is a wonderful observation room where families can watch the birds strut and gobble!
Little Acorns: Turkeys Sessions Nov. 8: 10-11am or 1-2pm or Nov. 9: 10-11am at Burr Oak Woods Nature Center, 1401 NW Park Rd, Blue Springs. 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Nature Nuts Storytime Every Saturday at Anita Gorman Discovery Center, 4750 Troost Ave, Kansas City, MO. Sessions: 10am-11am, 11am-12pm, or 1pm-2pm. Walk-in (ages 3-8; all welcome) Join volunteer naturalists for a fantastic journey through forests, streams and other magical places as they read select books. Children will participate in a hands-on nature activity.
Thanksgiving Fun Nov. 2 at 6:30pm at Mid-Continent Public Library - Blue Springs South, 2220 S. 7 Hwy., Blue Springs, MO. Ages 5 and up. Come to the Library and listen to "Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving." Then make fun, hand-painted turkeys and other Thanksgiving crafts! Ages 5 and up. Registration required.

Turkey Fun & Games
Turkey Bowling Nov. 11 from 2-4pm at Line Creek Community Center and Ice Arena, 5940 NW Waukomis Drive, Kansas City, MO. Enjoy some bowling on ice — with a turkey! Participants will compete to knock down the most bowling pins with a frozen turkey. The winners will be awarded a free turkey for their Thanksgiving feast or other great prizes! Admission is free with the donation of a non-perishable food item to Harvesters. Skate Rental $2.
Turkey Trails 5k/10k Nov. 18 starting at 8am at Waterfall Park at Bass Pro, 18001 Bass Pro Dr., Independence, MO. Participate in the annual Turkey Trails 5k and 10k at Bass Pro Waterfall Park. The Turkey Trails is a Thanksgiving-themed run that is perfect for the whole family. The fun includes a costume contest, free kids dash, great post race food, and plenty of fun activities and vendors! You are not going to want to miss this one. Don’t forget to bring your new and gently used coats and blankets to packet pickup or race day to benefit Project Warmth!
