There are so many places to trick-or-treat and enjoy Halloween across Kansas City, families enjoy a variety of events. From Trunk-Or-Treats at local churches to special festivals and fairs, this is your guide to Halloween in Kansas City.

Tips:

  • Please keep in mind that some events may be canceled in the event of inclement weather, be sure to verify with the venue before you go.
  • Some events require advanced registration as noted below.
  • Costumes encouraged at most events!

Visit the Pumpkin Patch Kansas City is rich with local pumpkin patches, each with their own theme and fall attractions. Jumping Pillows, Moonbounces, Petting Zoos, Pumpkin Cannons, Barrel Train Rides, Live Entertainment, Corn Mazes, and more are just a few of the attractions your family will enjoy. Halloween Fun at the Zoo Weekends thru Oct. 29 at Kansas City Zoo, 6800 Zoo Dr., Kansas City, MO. 

Hoots & Howls at the Zoo Schedule: The first three weekends of October enjoy some spooky, not scary, activities and entertainment.  From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. you can cruise around on a pedal tractor, navigate a hay bale maze, sing along with the interactive DJ and take a ride on the Scare-o-cel. Enjoy a hayride around the Zoo and create a wild craft in the lobby. Animals are joining in the fun by smashing pumpkins at scheduled times throughout the day. 

  • October 7 & 8- Mesner Puppet Theater presents Old McDonald’s Rhyming Ranch at 10:15 a.m. and 2:15 p.m.

  • October 14 & 15- Minions are taking over the Kansas City Zoo. Get your picture taken with them from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

  • October 21 & 22- May the force be with you! Star Wars characters travel from a galaxy far far away to the Kansas City Zoo to take pictures with our guests from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Boo at the Zoo Oct. 28 & 29 at Kansas City Zoo, 6800 Zoo Dr., Kansas City. Children will trick-or-treat the Zoo while enjoying Halloween themed activities and entertainment. Skip, hop, crawl or waddle to trick or treat stations with the zooiest gooiest treats in town. Put on your favorite costume and join the Zoo animals for a trumpeting great day of not so spooky activities. 

Zombie Attack is Back thru Oct. 28 at Paradise Park, 1021 NE Colbern Road, Lee's Summit. Paradise Park has been taken over by zombies, and we need your help! The adventure will begin as you take on the role as one of our soldiers. We have found a few of the zombies’ secret hiding places and we will lead you throughout these infected spaces to help us battle the creatures we can find. Our team will equip you with laser tag weapons to stop these creepy zombies. You’ll make your way to one of our zombie attack trailers as the experience “goes mobile”. You’ll ride through our labyrinth of hayride paths to fight off even more zombies where they lurk. So gather a big group of friends, join us at the park, and HELP US SAVE THE WORLD! Bonus Activity: Buy the Zombie Combo and find your creepy fall haunt with Infection in Operation Laser Tag, Zombie Attack Laser Tag Hayrides, The Living Dead Haunted House and Locked Up – a Haunted Escape Experience. Our expanded haunted experience is a co-op with Haunted Visions and voted as one of Missouri’s top 10 haunted houses for 2016. The Great Pumpkin Fest thru Halloween Weekend at Worlds of Fun, 4545 Worlds of Fun Ave, Kansas City, MO. This family-friendly event is all treats and no tricks and features special Halloween-themed activities for kids plus PEANUTS-themed rides and attractions in Planet Snoopy! Kids can wear their costumes and trick-or-treat with Snoopy and the PEANUTS gang inside Planet Snoopy. You never know which PEANUTS character will be nearby to join the fun with their own festive Halloween costumes! Enjoy these attractions and more: Peppermint Patty's Hay Bale Maze: Kids will weave their way through a twisting path of hay bales and cornstalks in this harvest-themed maze, all while dodging a series of dead ends as they attempt to make their way toward the exit. Lucy's Costume Contest: Our smaller ghouls and goblins are invited to show off their costume creations in Planet Snoopy, Saturdays and Sundays at 3pm! Ages 11 and younger. Brick or Treat WEEKENDS Oct. 21-29 at LEGOLAND Discovery Center Kansas City, 2475 Grand Blvd, Kansas City, MO. LEGO FUNgineers are busy making the attraction boo-tiful and are planning awesome activities around every creepy corner. Spooktacular event activities include: MINILAND Takeover, Halloween build activities in the Master Builder Academy, Pop badge giveaways (while supplies lasts!), and Brick-Or-Treat Zone in the LEGOLAND Discovery Center Event Room. Wear your costume to the attraction on event weekends for a chance to participate in an exclusive Brick-Or-Treat Build Scavenger Hunt! 

Underwater Pumpkin Carving Oct. 21-22 & 28-29 at SEA LIFE Kansas City Aquarium, SEA LIFE Kansas City Aquarium, 2475 Grand Boulevard, Kansas City, MO. Our team of SEA LIFE expert divers will perform this famous fall feat in our Ocean Tank on select weekends in October. Watch as they bring their pumpkin-carving skills under the sea alongside sharks, rays & dozens of species of tropical fish. Underwater Pumpkin Carving is included with regular admission price to SEA LIFE Kansas City. 

Paradise Park Discovery Play Weekly Theme: Pumpkins & Halloween Oct. 22 - 31 at Paradise Park, 1021 NE Colbern Rd., Lee's Summit, MO. Admission: Children age 1 and up - $9.99 plus tax Adults - $3.99 plus tax. Specially designed for interactive, fun, imaginative and educational play, Paradise Park's Discovery Play center offers 20+ unique areas, including Pretend Village, Water Table, KCPT Learning Room, and a 2-acre Children's Garden with a dinosaur dig, pretend fishing pond and 18-hole Jr. mini golf course and age-appropriate climbing structures. It also includes Adventure Time, when a play facilitator leads children through themed activities at scheduled times throughout every day. Click, Clack, Boo! A Tricky Treat Oct. 17- Nov. 11 at H&R Block City Stage, 30 W. Pershing Rd, Level B, City Stage, Kansas City, MO. Kansas City premier of a brand-new musical based on Doreen Cronin’s latest book in the wildly popular series that began with Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type (performed by TYA last season). It’s Halloween time at Farmer Brown’s farm and the literate farm animals want an old fashioned Holiday Celebration. One problem: Farmer Brown does not like scary things - no haunted house or creepy ghosts for him. But the clever, well-read cows, poultry and pigs create a party more fun than fright with apple-bobbing, costume parades and hilarious musical performances.

Pumpkin Patch:Woods Chapel UMC Blue Springs Oct. 17 - 31 at Woods Chapel UMC Blue Springs, 3609 SW State Route 7, Blue Springs, MO. Pick your pumpkin at the WCC Blue Springs Pumpkin Patch! The Pumpkin Patch runs October 17-31. Open Monday-Friday from 3-7 p.m. and Saturday-Sunday from 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Pumpkin prices will vary. All proceeds will benefit ministries at WCC Blue Springs.

Boo-tifully Sculpted Scene Oct. 12 from 7-8pm at Mid-Continent Public Library - Excelsior Springs, 1460 Kearney Road, Excelsior Springs, MO. Work with tissue paper and Model Magic to create a fall scene with a mini tree, hand-sculpted ghost, and pumpkins mounted on a base for holiday decorating. Ages 7 and up. Registration is required.

Hocus Pocus Movie Night at Summit Fair Oct. 13 from 6:30-9pm at Summit Fair, 840 NW Blue Parkway, Lee's Summit, MO. Grab your lawn chairs and blankets and let the Sanderson Sisters take thee away, into a world of enchantment! The movie will start at approximately 7:00PM, but children's activities, including a costume contest and monster mash dance party, will kick-off at 6:30PM while we wait for sunset! (Current prediction for sunset is 6:42). Middle School Teen Night (sponsored by Lee's Summit CARES) Oct. 13 from 7-10pm at Paradise Park, 1021 NE Colbern Road, Lee's Summit, MO. Zombies have invaded and your mission is to destroy them all. For only $15, you will get a chance to hunt those Zombies down. In addition, we are going to throw in a $5 Fun Card. Our middle school-aged teen guests can enjoy the organized fun on the second Friday of each month. We will bring in the DJ, ping pong tables, and other special attractions & giveaways for our safe teen night coordinated with and sponsored by Lee's Summit CARES at Paradise Park!

Pony Express PumpkinFest Oct. 13- 15 at Downtown St. Joseph, Missouri. This free family arts festival celebrates the fall harvest with live entertainment, a children’s costume parade, festival rides, games, storytelling, crafts and food. Spooky Halloween Cat Show Oct. 14 at St. Catherine of Siena Gym, 4101 E. 105th Terrace, Kansas City, MO. Showcasing 40 breads of cats, 6 rings of Championship and Household Pet judging, meet the owners, talk with the breeders, Halloween Cage Decorating Contest- Spectators Vote and Face painting artists. Tickets: $6 Adult, $5 Senior, $3 Children age 3-12

Boston Boo Oct. 14 from 1-3pm at Bentley's Pet Stuff, 14905 W 119th Street, Olathe, KS. Enjoy this free, family-friendly event. Not-So-Scary Stories Oct. 19 at Mid-Continent Public Library - Grandview Branch, 12930 Booth Lane, Grandview, MO. Jim Wallen will delight and scare you. You'll not want to miss this dynamic story teller in this season of stories. Fun for families who have young children and don't want to be really scared. A fun time with a silly Halloween theme stories. All ages. Registration is required. 

Oct 20 - 22, 2017

Glow: A Jack O’ Lantern Festival Oct. 20 & 21 at Powell Gardens, 1609 N.W. U.S. Highway 50, Kingsville, MO. This spooktacular annual festival features a one-mile path of 750 expertly carved jack-o-lanterns. Thousands of visitors to the weekend-long festival will experience the transformation of garden produce, pumpkins and gourds into a fantastic seasonal aesthetic display. The weekend also offers fall hay rides, hands-on activities, and food and beverage vendors. New this year, a carnivorous plant display, a Kids Corral and an After-Glow event for adults.

Ghost Tours at the Wornall House Oct. 20, 21, 27 & 28 at John Wornall House Museum, 6115 Wornall Rd., Kansas City, MO. Tickets: $15. A mysterious voice. A shadowy figure in the window. An uncomfortable feeling that you’re being watched. The scent of pipe tobacco tickling your nose. These are some of the many experiences that visitors, volunteers, and staff have experienced in the John Wornall House, often named one of the most haunted locations in Kansas City. Join us for one of our popular Ghost Tours to hear about some of the unexplained sights and sounds experienced here, learn about the gruesome Civil War history and the soldiers that may have died here, and enjoy theatrical presentations to get you in a spooky mood. Tours leave every 15 minutes and last approximately one hour. Arrive early to enjoy a hot beverage in the carriage house before your tour. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. The fine print: Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Be aware that the tours will cover topics that may be potentially frightening to small children. Children are allowed on tours, but parental discretion is advised. Tours involve one-hour of standing, walking, and ascending stairs. If you have mobility issues, please contact in advance so we may accommodate you. Tickets are non-refundable within 2 weeks of the event.

Trick-or-Cache at Antioch Park Three sessions Oct. 20 at Antioch Park, 6501 Antioch Road, Merriam, KS. Admission: $12 per person ($14 nonres), or $30 for a family/ four or less ($33 nonres). Search for caches filled with candy and trinkets hidden around Antioch Park using Global Positioning Systems (GPS). GPS units, a tutorial, and meal are included during this modern day scavenger hunt. Please register by October 17.

Trunk or Treat: Ray Marsh Oct. 20 from 5-7:15pm at Ray Marsh PTA, 5642 Rosehill Rd, Shawnee, KS. 

Trunk or Treat: Oakwood Manor Elementary Oct. 20 from 5:30-7pm at Oakwood Manor Elementary, 5900 N Flora Ave, Gladstone, MO. There will be prizes for the best decorated car.

Trunk or Treat: Our Lady of the Presentation School Oct 20 from 5-9pm at Our Lady of the Presentation School, 150 NW Murray Rd, Lee's Summit, MO. This fun evening of trunk-or-treating from car to car in the OLP parking lot is the primary fundraiser for the 8th Grade class. Parking spaces will be $20 to have a reserved space. The cost for walk in as a trunk or treat guest is $5.00 per person or up to $25.00 per family.

Halloween Happening Oct. 21 from 2-3:30pm at Merriam Marketplace, 5740 Merriam Dr., Merriam, KS. FREE. Costume Contest, nine hole mini golf course, Balloon Monsoon inflatable, storytelling with Johnson County Library, Halloween antics with Shawnee Mission North Repertory Theatre and more. 

Witch Hazel at Suburban Lawn & Gardens Oct. 21 & 22 at Suburban Lawn & Gardens (135th & Wornall, KC, MO). A hideous green-faced witch that, at first impression, is scary but actually is quite amusing and funny. Don’t let that façade scare you, she’s really just a kitten in disguise.

Haunted Kansas at Ernie Miller Park Oct. 21 from 6:30-8pm at Ernie Miller Nature Center, 909 N. K-7 Highway, Olathe, KS. Recommended for ages 8 and up. $5 per person, including adults, paid in advance or $7 on site day of event. Characters from the past will share legends around the campfire. Expect a shiver down the spine and a mild case of goose bumps for those who dare enter the forest on this autumn evening. Advance registration is required. 

Not-So-Scary Halloween Show Oct. 21 from 2-3pm at Mid-Continent Public Library - Woodneath, 8900 NE Flintlock Road, Kansas City, MO. Join Dinosaur O'Dell and the gang as we jam our way through some great tunes and a not-so-scary Halloween tale. Be sure to wear your costume. All ages. Registration is required. 

Spooky Springs Halloween Bash Oct. 21 from 5-8pm at Adams Pointe Golf Club, Blue Springs, MO.  Enjoy hay ride, bonfire, and more. Wear your costume for trick or treating. Children 2 and under are free.

Halloween Trick or Treat Event Oct. 21from 1-3pm at HyVee, 13400 W 87th Pkwy, Lenexa, KS. The first 100 kids in costume will receive a FREE reusable Halloween Bag. Make your way around the store to each department for treats as well as mini pumpkin and cookie decorating.

No Trick, Our Treat Halloween Event Oct. 21 from 5-9pm at Lenexa Public Market, 8750 Penrose Ln, Lenexa, KS. Not your Mummy's Halloween House Party, a family-friendly, FREE fun event with games, facepainting, music, a costume contest, free candy and prizes! Spooky sounds and haunted hosting by DJ SugEasy and presented byTranslation in Movement.

Mask Mania Oct. 21 from 10am-2pm at ScrapsKC, 1324 W. 12th St., Kansas City, MO. $5 per person or $15 per family (4 or more children). Wear your costumes and show your creativity by making fun Halloween masks with us!

4TH ANNUAL HALLOWEEN CAMPOUT Oct. 21-22 at WATKINS MILL STATE PARK, 26600 Park Road North, Lawson, MO. Bring the family camping and enjoy the park’s Halloween campout. Activities will include the spookiest campsite contest, a K-9 costume contest, campsite trick-or-treating (campers are encouraged to bring candy for trick-or-treaters) and a special spooky program at the amphitheater entitled "Haunted Missouri." Howl-O-Ween Grandview Oct. 21 from 10-11am at Tails & Trails Dog Park, 7600 E. 139th Street, Grandview, MO. Costume contest, agility course, and best trick contest for your chance to win PAWSOME prizes from our sponsors! The Grandview, MO Police Department will have the Grandview MO Police K9 Unit out for a demonstration! All dogs and their humans are welcome to this free event.

Pumpkins on Parade Oct. 21 from 4:30-9pm at Cave Spring Park, 8701 E. Gregory Boulevard, Raytown, MO. FREE event over 1,000 lit pumpkins carved by many community groups. There will be games for the kids, the Raytown Fire Dept., food trucks and plenty of fun for all.

Fright Night at Shoal Creek Oct. 21 from 7:30-10:30pm at Shoal Creek Living History Museum, 7000 NE Barry Rd, Kansas City, MO. $10 per person, pay at museum entrance. Must be 16 years or older. Kansas City's Halloween Extravaganza Oct. 22 from 2-5pm at Union Station, 30 W. Pershing, Kansas City, MO. Tickets are only $9, Family four pack are $30.  4th Annual Día de los Muertos/Day of the Dead Celebration Oct. 22 from 1-4pm at Kessler Park and Scarritt Point,  (Parkland West of the Kansas City Museum), 3218 Gladstone Blvd, Kansas City, MO. Enjoy live music by Pablo Sanheza’s Latin Quintet, face painting, and puppetry by StoneLion Puppet Theatre. Enchanted Forest: Lenexa Oct. 26 from 5:30-8:30pm at Sar-Ko-Par Park, Lenexa, KS. Enjoy performances by puppets, musicians and singers along the trail around Rose’s Pond and fun photos in the photo booth. Stroll the seasonal displays, visit friendly characters and enjoy performances at your leisure. The Enchanted Forest is primarily an entertainment event - not a trick-or-treating event. However, there will be a limited supply of candy in the sponsor area, thanks to their generosity.

Halloween Hoopla Oct. 26 from 6:30-7:15pm at Mid-Continent Public Library - Smithville Branch, 120 Richardson St., Smithville, MO. Free. The old house down the block is full of surprises when Denny stops by for some Halloween caroling. Books full of magic and stories lead the way through the adventure of fun and the unknown. Join Happy Faces Entertainment as we enjoy the Halloween season with all the excitement in a non-scary way. All ages. Registration is required.

Tricks and Treats: Magic with Eric Vaughn Oct. 26 from 6:30-7:30pm at Mid-Continent Public Library - Oak Grove Branch, 2320 S. Broadway St., Oak Grove, MO. All Ages. Free. Trick-or-Treat at IKEA Oct. 27 from 4-6pm at IKEA Merriam, 6000 IKEA Way, Merriam, KS. Enjoy treat stations all throughout the store. Visit our new family-friendly "Haunted Homes" and enjoy complimentary refreshments in the restaurant.

Trunk or Treat: St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and School Oct. 27 from 6-8:30pm at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and School, 2 E 75th St, Kansas City, MO. Trunk or Treating, Zoo-Mobile, KC Library, food trucks, haunted house, costume parade, Pumpkin-Walk, games, crafts, popcorn/movie, and so much more! Admission per child is a large bag of candy and food tickets are available for purchase in advance or at the door ($3/child $5/adult) and can be used to purchase discounted meals at the food trucks or for Waldo Pizza/chips/drink.

Halloween Party/ Parents Night Out Oct. 27 at 6pm at Brazil Academy LTD, 11441 Strang Line RD, Lenexa, KS. Drop your kids off for a great time, and go have a great time with your loved one. Price: $20 Per Child.

BMO Harris Bank Trunk R Treat Oct. 27 from 4-6pm at BMO Harris Bank, 7225 Renner Rd, Shawnee, KS. Safe and fun trick or treating alternative. The event will be held in the parking lot of the bank and is sponsored by over 40 Shawnee businesses.

Trunk or Treat: Sunflower Elementary Oct. 27 from 6-7:30pm at Sunflower Elementary PTA, 8955 Loiret Blvd, Lenexa, KS.  Volunteers park their cars in the designated parking lot and open their trunks or the backs of their vehicles and decorate them for Halloween. 

Halloween Party Oct. 27 at Gymboree Play & Music Zona Rosa, 7360 NW 87th Terr, Kansas City, MO. Enjoy activities, craft, snack, parachute and of course bubbles. Admission: $20 per child, advance reservations only

Trunk-or-Treat: Highland Park Elementary PTA Oct. 27 from 6:30-8pm at Highland Park Elementary, 400 SE Millstone Ave, Lee's Summit, MO. Trunk-or-Treat in the HPE parking lot.

Summit Fair Trick or Treat Halloween Oct. 31 from 5-7pm at Summit Fair, 840 NW Blue Pkwy, Lee's Summit. Calling all Boos and Ghouls! Monster mash your way to Summit Fair this Halloween (Tuesday, October 31st) for center-wide Trick-or-Treating! Walk the shops and look for the pumpkin sign on the door of each participating merchant, and collect your treats! (Additional in-store activities and giveaways will be offered throughout the event!) Plus, make sure to visit our balloon artist and face painter friends (located next to Loft Next Door behind Big Whiskey's American Restaurant & Bar - Lee's Summit, MO), as well as the 10 foot tall Frankenstein located in Halloween Express Kansas City!

Trick or Treat at the Village at Burlington Creek Oct. 31 from 2-4pm at The Village at Burlington Creek, NW 63rd Terrace, Kansas City, MO. Look for the pumpkin sign on the front of participating stores and restaurants to receive candy and have fun!

Trunks O' Treats Oct. 31 from 6-8pm at Grace Christian Fellowship Church, 7230 Quivira Rd., Shawnee, KS. Stop by our Trunks O' Treats Halloween Night! Hot Chocolate, Popcorn, and of course TONS of candy! This a totally free event! Perfect for a jackpot stop for older kids, and for little ones who maybe aren't ready for full blown trick or treating! Trunk O' Treats is very similar to Trick or Treating except instead of going from house to house, your child goes from car trunk to car trunk. Each trunk is decorated in a super fun, creative way! It's an energetic, fun, and SAFE atmosphere! 

Trick or Treat: Downtown Excelsior Springs Oct. 31  from 4-9pm at Downtown Excelsior Springs, Excelsior Springs, MO. All of our downtown stores will be open late handing out candy to our community trick or treaters. 

Safe Trick or Treat: Rockhurst Oct. 31 from 6-8pm at Rockhurst University Community Center,1100 Rockhurst Rd, Kansas City, MO. Community children 12 and younger, with adult supervision, are once again invited to the Rockhurst University Community Center for our annual Safe Trick-or-Treat. Our Rockhurst student volunteers will transform the center into a haunted house filled with games, activities, and treats. The event has drawn close to 500 children in the past and has been a safe place for area trick-or-treaters for more than 20 years.

Halloween at the Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze Oct. 31 from 10am-5pm at Louisburg Cider Mill, 14730 K68 Highway , Louisburg, KS. $6 or $4/person. Tuesday, October 31st: HALLOWEEN!! Wear your costume for $2 off your ticket and some Halloween fun!! This is also the FINAL day the Louisburg Cider Mill Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maze will be open. 

Trunk or Treat: Messiah Lutheran Oct. 31 from 6-8pm at Messiah Lutheran, 613 S Main St, Independence, MO. Trick or treat quickly and safely on our parking lot.

Trunk or Treat: River Church Oct. 31 from 6:30-8pm at River Church Family , 6400 Woodson Rd, Raytown, MO. This is a free community event which will include; candy, games, roasting marshmallows, a hayride, Bounce House, music and much more!

Boo at the View Oct. 31 from 6-8pm at The View, 13500 Byars Road, Grandview, MO. The View transforms to a haunted house upstairs in the Grove and our gym is full of games and candy for the kiddos! Round up your family and friends in your best costumes and enjoy candy for all, a haunted house for kids ages 6 and up, face painting, and games for kids ages 10 and under. No strollers will be allowed in the haunted house.

Trunk or Treat: First Baptist Church of Shawnee Oct. 31 from 5:30-7:30pm at First Baptist Church of Shawnee, 11400 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS. Treats, free, fun and a bouncy house!

Trunk or Treat: Coventry Estates Baptist Church Oct. 31 from 6-8pm at Coventry Estates Baptist Church, 17133 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO. Come out for a safe alternative to Trick or Treating.
