Here comes Peter Cottontail.... it's time for our annual round up of Kansas City's Easter Egg Hunts, Shows, Parades, and Festivities! If you know of an egg hunt in your community that should be added to our list, please email kristina@kcparent.com!

Easter Crafts

Creative Storytime Ceramic Cafe, 9425 Mission Road, Leawood. 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. Ceramic Cafe offers a fun story and paint time every Tuesday and Friday. We read a book, then the kids get to paint a ceramic item that goes along with the story and finish with a snack. The program starts at 10:30 on Tuesdays and Fridays. No reservations needed unless you want to come with a large group. $12 per child + tax. 3/28 & 3/31: Runaway Bunny by Margaret Wise Brown, paint a Bunny Figurine. 4/4 & 4/7:  The Golden Egg by Margaret Wise Brown, paint a Plate with bunny handprint. 4/11 & 4/14: (not guaranteed for Easter Pick-up) Daisy and the Egg by Jane Simmons, paint a Egg.

Ceramic Cafe Easter Egg Festival Mar. 31 - Apr. 2 at Ceramic Cafe, 9425 Mission Rd,, Leawood. Come and paint ceramic Easter eggs at a discounted price during our annual Easter Egg Festival. Paint with the whole family or come on your own. It's one of our most popular events! Reservations required.

Easter Bonnets 1920s Style Apr. 5 at 6:30pm at Shawnee Town 1929, 11600 Johnson Drive, Shawnee KS. $15 Reservation required. 913.248.2360. In the 1920s fashionable cloche hats hugged the wearer's head. It's no wonder that the popular hair style of the day was the bob - a blunt cut level with the bottom of the ear. In this class, you will be provided with a finished handmade hat and a variety of trimmings to style your hat on site. You'll leave wearing your new creation -just in time for Easter! All supplies are included in the class fee. Adults and children welcome to attend. There will be different size hats to suit all as well as some “American Girl” size hats for the youngest participants to design for their dolls. If you have a piece of costume jewelry from a relative that you treasure, feel free to bring it and add it to your hat.

Easter Bunny Photos, Parades & Fun

The Easter Bunny visits Crown Center Apr. 8, 9, 14 & 15 at Crown Center Shops, from Noon-4pm. The Easter Bunny greets children at Crown Center. A professional photographer will be taking pictures for a fee and visitors are welcome to bring their cameras.

Easter Eggstravaganza at Worlds of Fun April 14-16 at Worlds of Fun. The EGGcitement includes: Pictures with the Easter Bunny, Easter Art Project, Easter EGGsploration - an Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt for kids in Planet Snoopy Sitings of the Easter Beagle! (aka Snoopy). Park Hours: Friday 10am to 8pm, Saturday 10am to 10pm, Sunday 10 am to 7pm.

Photos with Live Bunnies at Town Center Mar. 9 - Apr. 15 at Town Center Plaza , 4804 W 119th St, Leawood. It’s that time of year again - the bunnies and baby chicks are back at Jordan Photography. Plaza Bunnies & Easter on the Plaza Mar. 20 - Apr. 23 at Country Club Plaza, 47th & Wyandotte, Kansas City. The popular Plaza tradition brings colorful, larger-than-life bunnies and other springtime animals to the Plaza’s courtyards and street corners. Mermaid and Pomona Courtyards, on the west side of Seasons 52, are home to a lively collection of animals for children to play on, while the Easter bunnies line the Plaza’s sidewalks.

Downtown Bunny Hop: Lee's Summit Apr. 15 at City Hall Plaza, 220 SE Green Street, Lee's Summit. All Ages. 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. FREE. 816-246-6598. Children and families can line up at City Hall Plaza starting at 9:45AM. They will then parade West on 3rd Street to Howard Station Park where the Bunny Ears & Easter Hat Contest will take place. Judges will award prizes to their favorite Bunny Ears & Easter Hats! The Easter Bunny will be available for pictures with children until Noon in Howard Station Park, so make sure to bring your camera! Downtown businesses will also participate by handing out candy to children after the parade, so bring an Easter basket for the kiddos.

Hopping Down the Bunny Trail: Mid-Continent Public Library  Hop right into spring with tales of famous rabbits. Storyteller Jo Ho presents hip hop stories of Brer Rabbit, Peter Rabbit, and the ever-popular Easter Bunny. This program is for all ears - both big and small. Ages 2 and up. Registration is required.

Celebrate the Resurrection

The Thorn Apr. 7 & 8, City Center Church, 17500 W 87th St. $15/$25/$49. The Thorn is a visually dynamic and heart-stirring theatrical portrayal of the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Not your average Passion play, The Thorn combines martial arts, aerial acrobatics and emotionally powerful performances that have been engaging audiences across the US for almost 20 years. 

Eggstravaganza & Journey to the Cross: Central UMC Apr. 8 at Central UMC, 5144 Oak St., Kansas City. 0-12. 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. 0.00. 8167531844. Experience Jesus' journey through art and sensory stations. Enjoy hot dogs and, of course, have an egg hunt (up to age 12) on the playground. All activities are rain or shine!

Journey to the Cross: Blue Ridge Bible Apr. 8 at Blue Ridge Bible Church, 8524 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City. 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Through activities based on Scripture, participants experience the joy of Palm Sunday, the disappointment of Judas’ betrayal, the devastation of the crucifixion, the jubilation of the resurrection, and so much more. This family program invites children and adults to walk the path that Jesus walked. Small groups of people walk to 13 sites for activities that relate to the Passion event. At each station, their senses are engaged through experience-focused activity that teaches the biblical Passion account. This event is FREE and open to the public. Tours begin approx. every 15 min. You may arrive any time from 1-3pm. Each tour lasts approx. one hour.

Journey to the Cross: Colonial Presbyterian Apr. 12 at Colonial Presbyterian Church, 9500 Wornall Rd, Kansas City. 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Journey to the Cross is a powerfully moving, multi-sensory family event that guides people along the path that Jesus walked during his last days on Earth. Activities focused on Jesus’ love and forgiveness demonstrate the real meaning of Easter: our risen Christ’s victory over death! This even teaches about the life-changing message of the cross in a way that everyone can understand and no one will forget. Come enjoy a wonderful Wornall Wednesday meal at 5:30 and then join the Colonial Kids on this life changing journey!

Good Friday at Colonial Apr. 14 at Colonial Presbyterian Church, 9500 Wornall, Kansas City. 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. All Church Good Friday Service, April 14 at 7:00 PM at Wornall Campus. Experience the Tenebrae Service of Shadows - This service for both Wornall and Quivira Congregations is a time of remembrance as we walk the road to Calvary through great songs of our faith, new songs of praise and timeless works of art. Communion will be served. Childcare will be available for children 6 weeks old through 24 months (3 years old by 8/31/16). Please make your reservations by Friday, April 7.

Road to Resurrection Tour: Open Door Baptist Apr. 15 at Open Door Baptist Church, 3033 N. 103rd. Terr., Kansas City. FREE - online registry is required by April 9th. 913-334-7777. Road to Resurrection Tour is a family-friendly event. Step back in time to follow Jesus' footsteps during the final week. (One hour) tours occur every 15 minutes. The Hunt for Easter Apr. 15 at Colonial Presbyterian Church, 12501 W 137th Street, Overland Park. Discover the truth about Easter with a Family Treasure Hunt! Come for breakfast then set off on an adventure to find the Treasure of Jesus’ love for us.  Breakfast is $4.00 per person.

Easter Sunrise Service: Johnson County Memorial Gardens Apr. 16 at Johnson County Memorial Gardens, 11200 Metcalf Ave, Overland Park. 6:30 am to 7:15 am. FREE. 913.642.9100. Grammy Award Winner Charles Bruffy with the Kansas City Chorale will sing.

Road to Resurrection: Faith Mission Church Apr. 16 at Faith Mission Church , 901 Brush Creek Blvd, , Kansas City. 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. The fun & interactive Road To Resurrection will have families bonding, laughing & learning about Jesus! The whole family is encouraged to take this journey together! 

Easter Brunch & Breakfast Events

Brunch with the Bunny: Merriam Apr. 8 Irene B. French Community Center, 5701 Merriam Drive, Merriam. 10:00 am to 11:30 am. $4 person Early Bird until April 3 $6 person April 4-7. 913.322.5550. Grab your basket and bonnet to come visit with the Easter Bunny as we celebrate Spring and the Easter season. Face painting, craft, games, a light breakfast and for sure an “egg hunt”. 

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny: Strawberry Hill Museum Apr. 8 at Strawberry Hill Museum, 720 N. 4th , Kansas City. 8:00 am to 11:00 am. The menu will be featuring biscuits and gravy, pancakes and sausage, fruit, coffee, juice and milk. Adults - $6, and $5 for children who are under 10 years old. The Easter Bunny will also be available for pictures at $5 each. 

Easter Eggs and the Breakfast Bunny at Powell Gardens Apr. 15 at Powell Gardens, 1609 N.W. U.S. Highway 50, Kingsville. Bring an empty Easter basket and kick off your Easter weekend with a special family-friendly pancake breakfast and egg hunt before enjoying the gardens on your own. Breakfast includes Chris Cakes pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage links, orange juice and coffee. During this event, families can snap a photo with the Easter Bunny. Several creative hands-on activities will be offered and are included with admission. Activities included with admission are storytelling and making an Easter hat to wear in the Easter parade at 10:45 from the Visitor Center out to the “starting line” of the Easter egg hunt. Guests may also enjoy painting a flowerpot (comes with seeds) at the paint-a-pot station for $4. The egg hunt will begin at 11 a.m. sharp. Breakfast seating is limited. Families not desiring breakfast are welcome to participate in the egg hunt with purchase of regular garden admission plus $5 per child for egg hunt until 10:45 a.m.

APRIL 7

Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt: Gladstone Apr. 7 at Happy Rock Park, 7600 NE Antioch Road, Gladstone. 7 and under. 7:00 pm to 8:45 pm. $5. Children can search for Easter Eggs with flashlights. Games will begin at 7 p.m. and then the hunts will begin at 7:45 p.m. Children will hunt in groups of ages 3 and under, 4 to 5, and 6 to 7. 

Olathe Easter Egg Hunt Apr. 7 at Olathe Community Center , 1205 E Kansas City Rd, Olathe. 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm. Enjoy games, activities, face painting and more, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Stick around for the Easter Egg Find, starting at 6:15 p.m., with three age divisions: 3 and under, 4-6, 7-12. Food trucks will be available for meal and snack purchases. Park at Olathe North High School, and take the free shuttle to the Community Center.

APRIL 8

Easter Eggstravaganza:Grace Christian Fellowship Church Apr. 8 at Grace Christian Fellowship Church, 7230 Quivira Rd., Shawnee. 0-11 yo. 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. There will be games, crafts, prizes, and of course, a hunt!

Underwater Easter Egg Hunt: Gladstone Apr. 8 at Gladstone Community Center, 6901 N. Holmes St., Gladstone. 6-months to 7-years. 8:45 am to 11:45 am. $5 for Gladstone Community Center Members and $7 for non-members. Children will hunt Easter eggs in the Community Center's leisure pool.

Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt: Arno Park Apr. 8 at Arno Park, Ward Parkway & W. 69th St., Kansas City. 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. Enjoy drawings for prizes, free hot dog lunch, balloon entertainment, games, crafts, and of course the Easter Bunny will by on hand--so bring your camera! Start time to be 11:30 to register and Egg Hunt begins at noon.

Easter Egg Hunt: Belton Apr. 8 at Memorial Station 602 Maurer Parkway Belton, MO. Hop on over for some free fun and meet the Easter Bunny! Activities start at 10:00am and the Egg Hunt will start at 11:00am.

Easter Bunny’s Extreme Egg Hunt: Shawnee Mission Park Apr. 8 at Shawnee Mission Park, 7900 Renner Road, Shawnee Mission. 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. $13 per person ($15 nonresidents) or $31 per family/four or less ($34 nonres). The only way to find those prize-filled eggs is with a GPS (Global Positioning Systems) unit! The event begins at Shawnee Mission Park Shelter #4. Each family is loaned one GPS unit and given instructions on how to use the device to find hidden eggs scattered throughout the park. Lunch and pictures with the Easter Bunny included! Ollie's Egg Hunt : Paradise Park Apr. 8 at Paradise Park, 1021 NE Colbern Road, Lee's Summit. 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm. Join Ollie for an egg-citing good time as Paradise Park hosts its 10th annual Easter Eggs-travaganza. Hundreds of hidden eggs await to be found! Plenty of Easter-themed fun for everyone.

Easter Egg Hunt: Unity Southeast Apr. 8 at Unity Southeast, 3421 E Meyer Blvd, , Kansas City. 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Easter Egg hunt, games, bouncy house, face painting and so more.

Easter Eggstravaganza: Blue Springs Apr. 8 at Rotary Park, Blue Springs. 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.  Activities include a petting zoo, play structures, and face painting. Bring camera for photos with the Easter Bunny. This event is rain or shine

Easter Eggstravaganza: North Star Church Apr. 8 at North Star Church, 11250 N. Eastern Ave., Kansas City. 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm. Enjoy activities, games, snacks and an egg hunt. We will have a bounce house and animals from the Kansas City Zoo Zoomobile. 

City Wide Easter Egg Hunt in KC at Liberty Memorial Apr. 8 at Liberty Memorial, 2 Memorial Dr., Kansas City.  10:00 am to 12:00 pm. FREE. We’ll have baskets of fun with petting zoo animals, cookie decorating, bounce houses, bubbles, temporary tattoos, games, crafts and many more fun family activities including a big egg hunt and special visit by the Easter Bunny! 

Easter Eggstravaganza: Faith Chapel OPKS Apr. 8 at Faith Chapel Assembly of God, 15000 Newton Drive, Overland Park. 1-12. 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Enjoy carnival games, food, prizes and an egg hunt! All activities are free.

Kids Spring Jamboree: Shoal Creek Living History Museum Apr. 8 at Shoal Creek Living History Museum, 7000 Northeast Barry Road, Kansas City. 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Elementary school age and younger.
Easter egg hunt (bring your own basket), crafts, field games, and take pictures with the Easter Bunny and Mother Nature. Donations accepted with proceeds for museum improvements.

Easter Egg Hunt: Grandview Apr. 8 at The View, 13500 Byars Road, Grandview. 10:00 am to 10:30 am. Kids ages 0-10 are welcome to help uncover all the hidden eggs in Meadowmere Park. Special guest appearances by The Easter Bunny and KC Wolf!

Enjoy drawings for prizes, free hot dog lunch, balloon entertainment, games, crafts, and of course the Easter Bunny will by on hand--so bring your camera! Lunch will be served immediately following the Egg Hunt!

APRIL 9

Easter Egg Hunt: Raytown Apr. 9 at Kenagy Park, 79th Street,, Raytown. 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Come out and join us for fun and games and get your picture taken with the Easter Bunny at our 1st annual Easter Egg hunt! Free food and drinks will be provided

APRIL 15

Easter Eggstravaganza: Union Station Apr. 15 at Science City, 30 W. Pershing, Kansas City. Kids of all ages. 2:30 pm. $13.50 ADULTS, $11.50 KIDS 3-12; FREE FOR UNION STATION MEMBERS. Join us for our Annual Easter celebration! Bring the entire family to Science City for a morning jam-packed full of Easter fun!

Enjoy inflatables, cookie decorating, food trucks, face painting and more! Enjoy special appearances from the Easter Bunny and K.C. Wolf (1:30 to 2:30). 

Line Creek Egg Hunt and Spring Open House Apr. 15 at Line Creek Community Center, 5940 NW Waukomis Dr, Kansas City, MO. Starting at 10am, come to Line Creek for a springtime craft (FREE). At 11:15a, we will line up for the Egg Hunt (FREE). First wave (ages 6 and under) will start the hunt at 11:30a. Second Wave (ages 7-12) starts at 11:45a. To ensure there is enough eggs for everyone, there is a limit of 10 eggs per child. Stay after the hunt to learn about different activities at Line Creek, and to ride the KC Northern Railroad Train for FREE. FREE Admission to Public Skating from 2-4p today (Skate Rental is $2)

Raymore Easter Festival Apr. 15 at Memorial Park, Raymore. 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. Kids in 4th grade and under will enjoy hunting for 15,000 Easter eggs in age-appropriate areas at Memorial Park. Raymore’s Parks & Recreation department will also host refreshments, a cupcake walk, face painting and other activities.

16th Annual Easter Egg Hunt: Louisburg Cider Mill Apr. 15 at Louisburg Cider Mill, 14730 K68 Hwy, Louisburg. 11:00 am to 1:00 pm. Free. Prizes for everyone! Bring your basket and come join us for our 16th Annual Easter Egg Hunt Children will be divided into two age groups: 2 yrs. through 5 yrs. old, 6 yrs. to 10 yrs. old. Maybe YOUR youngster will find the $100 Easter Egg!! Have your child’s picture taken with the Easter Bunny.

KCPD Friends &Family Easter Egg Hunt Apr. 15 at Kansas City Regional Police Academy, 6885 N.E. Pleasant Valley Road, Kansas City. 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Hunt for 8,000 eggs for 3 separate egg hunts by age, face painting, games, petting zoo and much more! This event is free for all families! Please bring cash for hotdogs off the grill!

Western Shawnee Easter Egg Hunt Apr. 15 at LifeBridge Church, 6601 Monticello Rd, Shawnee. 10:00 am to 12:30 pm. FREE. 713-502-0001. Join us for games, crafts, cookies, inflatables and more!!! Egg hunts will take place every half hour from 10 am to 12:30 pm.

Easter Egg Hunt & Pancake Breakfast: Woods Chapel United Methodist Church Apr. 15 at Woods Chapel United Methodist Church, 4725 NE Lakewood Way, Lee's Summit. Any. 8:00 am to 11:00 am. FREE. Chris Cakes will be in the Fellowship Hall serving up fun and flipping pancakes. We will also have our inflatables up in the Gym for kids of all ages to enjoy. This year we will be offering a “reverse egg hunt.” Children will be gathering empty eggs and bringing them to different stations in the Gym to learn the story of Jesus' death and resurrection. Each station will offer a piece of the story, an activity and some candy to take home.

Easter Egg Hunt and Pancake Breakfast: Woods Chapel Church Blue Springs Apr. 15 at Woods Chapel Church Blue Springs, 3609 SW State Route 7, Blue Springs. 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. We’ll also enjoy a pancake breakfast together, fun games for all ages, and you can help pack school kits for children in Nicaragua. This is a FREE family friendly event!

Egg-Extravaganza: Mid-Continent Public Library - Raytown Branch Apr 15 at Mid-Continent Public Library - Raytown Branch, 6131 Raytown Road, Raytown. All Ages. 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm. Free. Join us for storytime with Mayor Mike McDonough as we take part in Raytown’s Easter festivities. After the stories, the Easter Bunny will escort the children across the street for an Easter egg hunt. All ages. Registration is required.

Easter Egg Hunt : Bonner Springs Apr. 15 at North Park, 1200 S. 134th Street, Bonner Springs. 10 and younger. 9:00 am to 10:00 am. Free. There are four age divisions and the start times for each group are listed: 3 & Under: 9:30am, 4 & 5: 9:35am, 6 & 7: 9:45am, 8, 9, & 10: 9:50am. Enjoy games, entertainment, the Easter Bunny, & of course the many Easter eggs to capture. 

APRIL 16

20th Annual Hyde Park Spring Frolic and Egg Hunt  Apr. 16 at Hyde Park , 38th and Gillham Rd, Kansas City. 0-10 and their families!. 12:30 pm to 3:00 am. Free. Kansas City’s biggest Easter festival - which runs from 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. on Easter Sunday, April 16th- offers a variety of entertaining activities for children and families, including pony rides, an obstacle course, petting zoo, face-painting, refreshments, and more. Everything is free and open to the public.

Wyandotte County Egg Hunt Apr. 16 at Wyandotte County Lake Shelter 2 Leavenworth Rd at N 91st St, Kansas City, KS. Easter Sunday April 16 9am-12pm. Ages 0-5. Come out Easter morning with your young one and find some eggs! We're running 3 egg hunts (9:30am, 10:30am, 11:30am) for ages 0-5 over at shelter 2, by the big playground. There will be refreshments, a face painter, and a visit from the Easter bunny, all free!
