DIY: Crafts & Projects for Valentine's Day
Creative Storytime Ceramic Cafe, 9425 Mission Road, Leawood. 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. Do you have a pre-schooler that just LOVES TO PAINT? Ceramic Cafe offers a fun story and paint time every Tuesday and Friday. We read a book, then the kids get to paint a ceramic item that goes along with the story and finish with a snack. What a deal and a fun way to share a creative activity with a little one. We start at 10:30 on Tuesdays and Fridays. No reservations needed unless you want to come with a large group. $12 per child + tax.
- 1/31 & 2/3: Read the book Roses are Pink, Your Feet Really Stink by Diane de Groat. Paint a heart bowl.
- 2/7 & 2/10 (items from 2/10 story time may not be promised for 2/14 pick up). Read the book The Biggest Valentine Ever by Steven Kroll. Paint a heart bud vase.
- 2/14 (items will not be ready for same-day pick up). Read the book Happy Valentine's Day Little Critter by Mercer Mayer. Paint a Valentine's piece.
Valentine Photo Box Feb. 4 from 9am - Noon. At Home Depot Locations Across the Metro. Participate in hands-on workshop and you and your child can build a Valentine-themed photo box, perfect for keeping photos of loved ones front and center. Once the box is built, your child can decorate it with paint and The Home Depot stickers. All kids get to keep their craft, receive a FREE certificate of achievement, a Workshop Apron, and a commemorative pin while supplies last. Children must be present at the store to participate in the workshop and receive the kit, apron and pin.
Winter Family Fun & Crafts Fair Feb. 4 from 10am-1pm at William Yates Elementary, 3600 S Davidson Ave, Independence, MO. FREE Admission. Bring the whole family and enjoy face painting, balloon animals and Valentine’s Day card making, at this free event! While you’re there, browse our vendor & crafts fair, where you’ll find jewelry, candles, handmade gifts, one-of-a-kind art, sweet treats, home décor, and more (you might just find the perfect, unique gift for your Valentine). Note: The crafts fair is open for shopping 9a-3p. The family activities will be held 10a-1p.
Valentine Factory @ Olathe Indian Creek Library Feb. 9 from 1-2pm & 10 from 10-11am at Olathe Indian Creek Library, 13511 S. Mur-Len Rd., Ste. 129, Next to Saver's, Olathe. For all ages. Come make a valentine at the Valentine Factory! All supplies provided. Come and go as you please.
A Very Fairy Princess Party Feb. 11 from 9-10:30am at Paint Glaze & Fire Ceramics & Coffee House, 12683 Metcalf, Overland Park. Ages 2-12. $28.00, Siblings $25.00. Watch the magic unfold as your child goes on an adventure that includes painting a Heart Box, a story and games including a small gift for each child. The Very Fairy Princess will bring out your child’s inner sparkle on this special Valentine adventure while you take photos or join in on the fun! The event will start with painting and a small snack. The Very Fairy Princess will join us about 9:45 am. Activities will entertain girls and boys ages 2 - 12. Event 9:00 am - 10:45 am. Get a wiggle on and grab your favorite Sheba or Sheik! Don your best glad rags 'cause we're puttin' on the Ritz to celebrate Valentine's Day at Shawnee Town 1929! Waltz or twirl the night away while benefiting Shawnee Town. Proceeds go to the Friends of Shawnee Town in support of the Museum's education programs for children. Dancers from 627 Stomp will teach attendees the Charleston along with other popular moves of the day from 7:00-8:00 PM. followed by 3 hours of music by the Grand Marquis Band. There will be light 1920s style hors d'oeuvres catered by Ridgway Catering from 8:00-9:30 PM. Ties & Tiaras Feb. 10 or 11 at Providence Community Church. You and your fair maiden are invited to dance and dine at the Ties & Tiaras Winter Ball this Valentine's season.
