Shopping at Crown Center

Shop a variety of shops and enjoy many great restaurants at Crown Center. Ice Skating at the Ice Terrace, crafts at Kaleidoscope, live shows, and a visit with Santa at his gingerbread village are all musts when visiting this local holiday landmark. The Mayor's Christmas tree, a 100-foot tree will illuminate the city throughout the holidays and acts as a symbol for the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund, which benefits the Kansas City’s less fortunate residents. After the holidays, the wood from the tree is repurposed to be commemorative ornaments, which are sold the following year to benefit the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Fund.

MOPS Holiday Mart

Oct. 24 from 6:30-8:30pm at Country Club Christian Church, 6101 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, MO. Get your holiday shopping done early while supporting our MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) group. Vendors will be selling jewelry, clothing, food, children’s gifts, personal care, and much more. 

STM Holiday Market

Oct. 26 & 27, St. Thomas More School, 11800 Holmes, Kansas City, MO. Shop over 40 vendors with lots of gift worthy items on your list and some pampering for you too! Friday, 10/26 will be the VIP social from 6-9:00 pm. A $20 entry fee will get you a door prize ticket, a raffle ticket and food and drinks. Fall Harvest Art & Craft Show

Holiday Season Opener: Brookside

Nov. 8-11, Brookside Shopping District, 63rd and Brookside Blvd, Kansas City, MO. Kansas City’s favorite neighborhood and the historic Brookside shops are celebrating the start of the 2018 holiday season November 8th through 11th with the annual Brookside Holiday Season Opener—a free, family-friendly event with holiday sales, pop-up events, food and drink specials, music and giveaways. 

  • Holiday Season Opener: Thursday Night: The festivities kick-off Thursday at 5 p.m. with specials at participating stores and restaurants, followed by the Season Opener celebration in Brookside Court Park at the southeast corner of Brookside Boulevard and 63rd Street from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Visitors can pick up refreshments provided by Michael Forbes Bar and Grille, The Roasterie Café and Cosentino’s Price Chopper. Families and shoppers can enjoy festivities in the park from carols and holiday music, to photo spots and great giveaways, all emceed by Teresa from the Mix 93.3 Rocket & Teresa Show. Live music will be provided by The Holiday Trombones, Providence School of the Arts, University Academy, Border Star Elementary School Choir, St. Elizabeth’s Choir and the St Peter’s School Choir. Thursday’s celebration kicks off a weekend of holiday sales in Brookside. Holiday shoppers will find great deals and the best selection of gifts and seasonal décor at Brookside businesses during one of the biggest holiday shopping events of the season.
  • Participating businesses will be open for extended hours throughout the weekend.   • Holiday Lights: After exploring the festivities in the park, families and visitors can stroll through the historic Brookside district, enjoy the holiday lights, gaze at the magical holiday window displays, find unique and local gifts for their loved ones this holiday season and enjoy food and drink specials. Participating retailers will be open until 8 p.m. Thursday night and restaurants will be open regular hours.

Holly Festival

Nov. 10 from 10am-4pm, Bernard Campbell Middle School, 1201 NE Colbern Rd., Lee's Summit, MO. This is a fundraising craft show that supports drug and alcohol prevention in the Lee's Summit Schools. Shop over 100 craft booths in which to browse and shop. Door prizes and a gift basket and Christmas tree silent auction. Black Friday at Legends Outlets

Nov. 23, Legends Outlets Kansas City, 1800 Village W Pkwy, Kansas City, KS. For the third consecutive year, Legends Outlets has decided to close its doors on Thanksgiving Day. While some retailers may choose to continue operations on Nov. 22, the center will close and officially reopen for Black Friday shopping on Nov. 23 at 6 a.m. Black Friday will include giveaways, holiday entertainment, special savings and more. Individual store and restaurant hours on Black Friday may vary.

Black Friday Fun at Summit Fair

Nov. 23, Summit Fair, 840 NW Blue Pkwy, Lee's Summit, MO. Gather the family and head to Summit Fair for festive Black Friday fun! Merry Market

Nov. 23 & 24 at City Market, Kansas City, MO. Enjoy great shopping, food, drink and festivities. Avoid the crowds and chaos at big box stores while supporting small, local business to keep our community strong! Local artisans will showcase their handcrafted items in the Farmers Market pavilions from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. while City Market shops and restaurants will offer specials and in-store activities all day and into the evening. Small Business Saturday Crawl

Nov. 24 from 10am-4pm, Waldo Business District, Kansas City, MO. The Waldo Business Association on behalf of the Waldo Community Improvement District is hosting a Small Business Saturday Shopping Crawl coinciding with the national campaign by American Express to promote small businesses across the country.  The Waldo Neighborhood is home to some of the best restaurants, shops, and bars in the Kansas City area. Visitors can expect a great day of shopping and dining local this holiday season. Visitors can earn free Waldo Bucks during the event. Shoppers may start anywhere along the route by picking up a Small Business Saturday Crawl Passport at any participating store. When they visit 10 participating businesses, they will receive $10 in *Waldo Bucks. Additionally, when they spend $50 at participating businesses they will get an additional $10 in *Waldo Bucks. Small Business Saturday

Nov. 24, Weston, Main Street, Weston, MO. Weston's Small Business Saturday will be held on November 24th from 10am-5pm. The Chamber of Commerce office will be the Welcome Center complete with snacks and hot cider! The shops will have special sales for this event. C.W. Parker Carousel Museum's Annual Children's Small Mall

Dec. 1 & 2, C.W. Parker Carousel Museum, 320 S. Esplanade, Leavenworth, KS. This popular event for children between 3 & 13 years old to do their own holiday shopping for family and friends in a secure environment. Parents pay $3, $5 or $7 for each gift on the child's gift list. With the guidance of our Elves your little shopper can select gifts for women, men, teens, kids and infants. Our wide selection of gifts include jewelry, novelty items, toys, stuffed animals, sweets and so much more. The selected gifts are then wrapped, labeled and ready to be placed under the tree. To complete their shopping experience each child receives a free ride on the 1913 carousel, (photo op) a bag of reindeer food, movies and admission to the Kid's Craft Corner. LPRD’s Annual Holiday Extravaganza

Holiday Marketplace at Roeland Park Community Center

Dec. 8, Roeland Park Community Center, 4850 Rosewood Dr., Roeland Park, KS. The Holiday Marketplace is open to shoppers of all ages. Elves' Workshop

Dec. 15 & 16, Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary, 407 N. La Frenz Rd, Liberty, MOCelebrate the holidays with a visit to the Elves’ Workshop! Children are invited to visit the Nature Center for face painting, treats, crafts, Santa and more! The Elves’ Holiday Store will be open for children only. Parents, please provide a list of gift recipients and shopping money. The Elves will help your child choose the perfect gift for friends or family members. Gifts are wrapped and labeled compliments of the Elves. While the children are shopping, adults can browse in our gift shop, relax in the exhibit area, and snack on holiday treats. Cost: $3/child or $2/child member to participate. Gift prices range from less than $1 to $25.
