Christmas Tree Farms in Kansas City
Choose your own fresh Christmas tree at one of these area Christmas Tree Farms. These family-owned businesses offer a touch of nostalgia and are perfect for your holiday memories.
- Dress for the farm. Wear warm clothes and shoes.
- Measure your space before you go. This includes doorways (you have to get the tree inside the house). Trees in the field may appear to be a "reasonable" size, but once placed in your living room they may be too large for the space. Get an idea in advance of the height and width you're after. You might even bring a measuring tape with you.
- Many of these farms offer pre-cut trees or cut-your-own. They will provide the tools to cut your own and great advice too. Ask staff members for tips and help.
- Call ahead before you go for an up-to-date inventory. Many farms close for the season once they are sold out.
- Read the information below carefully and visit farm websites for information including special events. Some require cash, others accept credit cards.
- Many farms will shake, flock and net your tree for you. Some will help tie it to the roof of your car, others will provide twine so you can tie it yourself. These services are a big help.
- Bring hand sanitizer to help clean off fresh tree sap.
- Take photos!

When you take home a native cedar tree, you’ll not only make your house smell great, you’ll be helping restore wild places to their original health.Visit Mildale Farm, the 22-acre site, where you may choose from a wonderful range of tree sizes and shapes. They will have hay rides to the trees to help get trees to your car. Also, enjoy a bonfire and enjoy some hot cider and cookies. Please bring a handsaw (no chainsaws or axes!) and rope to tie your tree to your vehicle. Sturdy boots and work gloves are recommended. Volunteers will be there to help you cut, carry and tie down your tree if needed.
