Toddler Time Yoga

Date/Time

Jan 5, 2013 to Dec 28, 2013
11:00 AM until 11:45 AM

This event occurs weekly, on Saturday.

Description

Yoga offers a forum for children to exercise independently in a noncompetitive, yet focused environment.  Yoga can develop strength and balance, as they learn to support their own weight in new ways. Yoga highlights good posture and body alignment, as many poses fuse stretches with balancing, yet do not allow straining beyond what is comfortable (i.e, the inverse of a "no pain, no gain" philosophy). The poses encourage focus and concentration, as children must hone their movements to the specific pose or series of poses. Yoga develops flexibility, which can be obtained through repeated stretching.  If your child is suffering from physical, emotional or behavioral challenges, you may not realize that yoga therapy may be a viable treatment option. From headaches to autism, parents and teachers are learning that yoga can support children and their special needs. Introducing a child to yoga might just provide him or her with lifelong tools for health.
