Dec. 13-17: This year, the Kansas City Museum is delighted and honored to continue The Fairy Princess that has been a part of Kansas City’s history and holiday traditions since 1935 when The Fairy Princess began at Kline’s Department Store at 1113 Main Street. While the Kansas City Museum at Corinthian Hall is closed temporarily for Stage I Construction, The Fairy Princess will come back to downtown Kansas City and take place at the Kansas City Museum at the Historic Garment District, the Museum’s new exhibition and programming space.

Dec. 16 & 17: This beautiful adaption of the classical Nutcracker Ballet follows Clara on a magical journey through the land of Snow and Sweets. Performances feature the artistic talents of the Miller Marley Youth Ballet and Youth Ballet 2 companies, along with over 60 guest performers, all adorned in beautiful costumes.
Dec. 16: Lenexa Baptist Church is hosting a morning of Christmas fun designed specifically for preschool families. Activities include making ornaments, decorating cookies, petting live animals, crafting a nativity set in our carpenter's shop and more! The fun starts at 10 am - so don't be late! Activities are designed for kids ages 2-5 years old, but older and younger siblings are welcome to join in the fun! We will finish our fun with some special Christmas music and storytelling with Pastor Chad. Feel free to invite friends, neighbors, and grand kids!
Dec. 15: New Store to Donate 100% of Proceeds on December 15 to The Victory Project. Scooter’s Coffee, the Midwest-based coffee franchise that has experienced tremendous growth over the past year, has increased its Missouri presence with the company’s latest opening at 10105 E 350 HWY in Raytown. The new location is celebrating with a Day of Giving for The Victory Project, an initiative from Sporting Kansas City that unites players, staff and fans to help children battling cancer. On the Day of Giving, December 15, 100% of proceeds will be donated to The Victory Project. In addition, the store will also be offering half off any drink (excluding Red Bull drinks) to customers.
Weekends thru Jan. 7: The Powell Gardens Festival of Lights offers a unique holiday experience that is unseen before in the Kansas City area. A lighting exhibition, artfully curated by the Powell Gardens Horticulture staff, the Festival of Lights includes botanically-themed lighting displays that begin at the garden entrance and stretch along a winding pathway through six of the seven themed gardens.
Weekends: What’s red and white and swimming with the penguins at Helzberg Penguin Plaza? Santa! Get a one-of-a-kind photo of Santa as penguins torpedo around him. Watch the penguin bubbles trail the man in the red suit and hear the children giggle. Dives are at 2 p.m.
thru Dec. 24: Kansas City’s favorite holiday tradition is back for its 37th season, with an all-NEW adaptation by KCRep Artistic Director, Eric Rosen! A ripping good telling of the classic story of Ebenezer Scrooge, the curmudgeonly businessman who requires the intervention of a few spectral guides to understand the true meaning of Christmas and life. Complete with lively musical numbers, ornate costumes, and dashing stagecraft, Dickens’ classic tale of hope and redemption continues to remind us what’s really worth celebrating – at the holidays, or any time! A Kansas City Holiday Tradition!
Kansas City's only public outdoor ice skating rink is open for its 45th season of great skating fun! Regular admission is $6, or free for adults over age 60 and children age 4 and under. Skate rental is $3, or skaters may bring their own. Hours: Sunday - Thursday, 10 a.m. - 9 p.m. Friday - Saturday, 10 a.m. - 11 p.m. Holiday Hours: Thanksgiving Day, 3 p.m. - 10 p.m.
