When I was an elementary teacher, I loved when August rolled around and it was time to get ready for another school year. From decorating my room to planning lessons to meeting my new students, I enjoyed all parts of the back-to-school season. As a parent, it’s a bit of a different story. I can’t say I’m counting the hours until I start making lunches, overseeing completion of homework, driving carpool, washing uniforms, etc. But, I push aside my feelings and try to be upbeat and excited so that my girls will also be upbeat and excited about the upcoming school year.
To help get your year off to the best start possible, we’ve put together a fantastic back-to-school guide. What would the classroom teacher or school principal say to you if she could really speak her mind? Find out in “Classroom Confidential”. Need a f un way to kick off your year? Check out “Back-to-School Traditions”. Looking for tips to help manage your after school schedule? Read “Managing After School Madness”. Is your baby heading off to preschool or kindergarten? Be sure to read “Easy Good-byes” before your first day drop-off.
Do you remember the “Choose Your Own Adventure” books from when you were young? I always enjoyed those and loved having some control over the story’s outcome. In the spirit of those books, we’ve put together a “Choose Your Own Adventure” night out—KC style!
Wishing all KC families a great start to the school year!
