Sarver Secret Valentine

Sarver Secret Valentine

For Valentine’s Day last year, we began a new tradition, the Sarver Secret Valentine. Each of us drew a name one week before Valentine’s Day and each day during the week leading up to Feb. 14, we did something for our secret Valentine.

Giving Back to the CCVI

Giving Back to the CCVI

I have tried to find more meaningful ways for them to serve the community, things they are interested in so hopefully they can develop a lifelong passion for service. Needless to say, when one of the teachers at the Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired (CCVI) posted on Facebook that they needed volunteers to watch the children while their parents attend a Parent Meeting, we jumped at the opportunity.

Sarver Ski Adventure

Sarver Ski Adventure

Our family recently took our first ski trip. I’ve thought about a ski vacation in the past, but honestly was overwhelmed at the thought of packing ALL that stuff, not to mention the fact that I’m not the most athletic person you’ll ever meet.

Neither child looked very happy about wearing the same shirt, which just happened to say, “This is our “Get Along” shirt.”

Simple Way to Pay it Forward

Simple Way to Pay it Forward

Do you donate blood? I have three times in my life. Two times were directed donations; once for when my brother was having surgery and then last year before my Dad had his mitral valve repair surgery. The third time was when I taught.

Finding the Right Sport

Finding the Right Sport

When my youngest son announced that he doesn’t want to play soccer this coming spring, I wasn’t all that surprised. Although he enjoys soccer and has played in the spring and fall for the past five years, he has always struggled with the game. It was easy for him when he first started playing in the 3-on-3 “bitty ball” league when he was five, but now that he is 10 and is playing on larger fields, with more players, it is hard for him to keep up with the game. It isn’t that he is lazy or doesn’t know what to do; he just has trouble seeing the ball because he is visually impaired.
